É o que levamos agora à noite ao sermos informados sobre a composição da nova reitoria da nova ULBRA. À exceção da pró-reitoria de extensão, que ano passado foi ocupada pelo prefeito eleito de Canoas - e que dispensa apresentações e comentários sobre sua participação no quadro atual da universidade - todos os demais, e principalmente o pró-reitor de gradução, são uma solução de flagrante continuidade da administração anterior. Só posso lamentar e reafirmar que nossa dignidade foi, mais uma vez, aviltada.

This is what we all got tonight on learning the constituency of the new vost board of new Ulbra. But for the Outreach pro-vost- the position the present mayor of Canoas occupied last year, suffice to say this considering his part in leading the university to its ongoing crisis - all the other names mean the previous administration is still in charge. The rest is silence, for our dignity has once again been smashed.

Vergonhoso também é o texto de apresentação da nova reitoria, onde o único nome impoluto é introduzido nos seguintes termos:

"Completa o quadro de gestores, Ricardo Willy Rieth, na Pró-reitoria de Extensão e Assuntos Comunitários. Rieth é professor nos cursos de História e Teologia da ULBRA Canoas, desde 2000. Atua em projetos de extensão universitária e de pesquisa. Integra associações e comitês científicos no país e no exterior."

Não é preciso ser um especialista em análise do discurso para compreender o gesto condescendente implícito na formulação.De longe o membro mais qualificado da equipe é apresentado como uma concessão feita ao corpo docente, há apenas dois dias da suspensão da paralisação, por parte da nova administração.


Equally shameful is the text that introduces the new vosts posted in the university webpage, where the only irreproachable name is presented in these words:

"The administrative board still counts with Ricardo Willy Rieth as Outreach and community affairs pro-vost. Rieth has been a History and Theology professor at ULBRA Canoas since 2000. He takes part in outreach and research projects and is a member in several scientific commitees and associations worldwide."

It doesn't take an expert in discourse analysis to make sense of the implicit patronizing gesture. By far the best qualified member is presented as a compromise to the faculty, just two days ago off strike, on the part of the new administration.

A direção do sindicato dos professores ainda não enviou comunicado nem se pronunciou a respeito. Não sou otimista a ponto de contar com uma manifestação de repúdio a alguns desses nomes por parte da direção sindical, mesmo porque, pela última assembléia, ficou claro que o interesse era garantir a participação de seus membros na composição do "comitê gestor" - certamente isso já havia sido negociado noutra instância, da qual os professores não participam. O sindicato é coerente, não radicalizou por nós na assembléia, por que o faria agora, quando têm a possibilidade de arrebanhar cargos?

The union leaders has not issued any comment as of yet. I'm not so optimist as to count on a firm reaction against some of the recently announced names, inasmuch as the last meeting left no doubt about the leaders' agenda - which I have continually classified as invested with interests that are not at one with the faculty's. . Their purpose is clearly to make room for some of them in the seats of the "administrative committee", an issue which most likely had already been established in a level other than that of the workforce and where no member of faculty takes part. Yes, the union IS coherent, it hasn't radicalized the debate for us, faculty, in the meeting. Why would they do it now, when their wished for positions are at stake?
